Domaine Montlobre’s main focus is on creating RED concentrated MERLOT and dominated MERLOT wines with just small percentage of Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes, which all mature on the finest Oak Barrels for a period between 10 to a maximum of 18 months.
The total wine production is limited between approx. 40 to 50 Hectolitres per hectare, depending on the vintage of course and making our Red wines extremely concentrated with a power, broad structure. The general characteristics for a Montlobre wine are: harmony, rich, creamy, broad fruit and soft oak velvety tannins.
One of Domaine Montlobre most successful red wine is “LA CHAPELLE”, a BIG complex type of Pomerol styled ROUGE, which is mainly crafted out of super healthy MERLOT grapes and a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in the picturesque barrique cellar ‘La Chapelle’ on small fine oak barrels of 225 litters for approx. 12 month.
Montlobre’s most treasured and BEST wine cuvee is the “Tête de Cuvée NOIRE”, the absolute ‘Crème de la Crème’ of Domaine Montlobre. A beautiful crafted 100% Merlot wine of an exceptional high quality, which matures on a selection of the very finest Premium French Oak Barrels like Radoux, Sylvain, Taransaud & Sequin Moreau, for a period of approx. 12 to 18 months.
